Stage set for port games in the Visakhapatnam
The stage is set for conducting the All India Major Ports Carroms, Chess and Table Tennis Championships from January 3 to 5 at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the city. The Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council (VPSC) is organising the event.
Visakhapatnam: The stage is set for conducting the All India Major Ports Carroms, Chess and Table Tennis Championships from January 3 to 5 at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the city. The Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council (VPSC) is organising the event.
Carroms: All India Major Ports Carroms Championship will be conducted on knockout basis. As many as seven major ports including Chennai, JNPT, Kandla, Mumbai, Mormugao, NMPT and Visakhapatnam Port participating in the event. Last year AIMP Carroms Championship was held at Kamarajar Port Limited wherein the Mumbai and Chennai Ports were the winners and runner-up respectively.
Chess: All India Major Ports Chess Championship will be conducted on knockout basis. As many as eight major ports including Chennai, Ennore, JNPT, Kandla and Visakhapatnam Mormugao, Mumbai and New Mangalore Port are participating. Last year AIMP Chess Championship was held at Ennore Port Limited wherein the Chennai and Visakhapatnam Ports were the winners and runner-up respectively.
Table Tennis: The All India Major Ports Table Tennis Championship will be conducted on super league basis. As many as six major ports including Chennai, Kandla, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Mangalore and Visakhapatnam Port have been participating. Last year AIMP Table Tennis Championship was held at Chennai. Mumbai and Kandla Ports were the winners and runners-up respectively.
Chairman, VPT MT Krishna Babu will inaugurate the event at 9 am.
