Tirupati: The Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force personnel opened two rounds of fire into the air against red sanders smugglers in self-defence near Srivari Mettu forest area on Tuesday morning. According to information, a task force team led by reserve sub-inspector Bhaskar spotted a gang of smugglers at Devagudi while combing the forest area. When the task force police gave a warning to them to surrender, the smugglers tried to attack them with knives and stones.

To ward off them, police opened two rounds of fire into the air, forcing the attackers to flee into the deep forest. A task force constable Hari Krishna suffered injuries in the attack by the smugglers. Task force police seized 32 red sanders logs from Devagudi Banda after the incident.
