A two-year-old baby girl died a week ago at Tirumala temple in a stampede, according to sources. Going into details, devotees from Anakapalle, N Appa Rao along with his wife and daughter came to the temple of Lord Venkateswara atop the Tirumala Hills for darshan on the Vaikuntha Ekadasi Day (December 29).

Tirupati: A two-year-old baby girl died a week ago at Tirumala temple in a stampede, according to sources. Going into details, devotees from Anakapalle, N Appa Rao along with his wife and daughter came to the temple of Lord Venkateswara atop the Tirumala Hills for darshan on the Vaikuntha Ekadasi Day (December 29).

When they were coming back from the temple after darshan, they were caught in crowds and their daughter died due to stampede. Though she was rushed to the Ashwini Hospital in Tirumala, she did not survive.

The doctors at the hospital confirmed that she died due to suffocation. Later, victim’s family left the Tirumala by an ambulance to their home town Anakapalle. When contacted, a TTD senior security official said that they did not receive any complaint regarding the death last week in the temple queue lines. So far, it has not come to their notice, he added.
