As part of its ambitious programme to complete 19 lakh houses on a mission mode before the next General elections, State government has sanctioned another 1,02,977 houses under NTR Urban Housing scheme for 2017-18.

Amaravati: As part of its ambitious programme to complete 19 lakh houses on a mission mode before the next General elections, State government has sanctioned another 1,02,977 houses under NTR Urban Housing scheme for 2017-18.

These houses will be linked with Pradhan Mnatri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Housing for All (HFA) (Urban) scheme to secure subsidy for these houses. Central government will sanction an amount of Rs 1,544.66 crore to take up construction of these houses in 84 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

According to official sources, these houses are exclusively allotted to ULBs in Srikakulam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa and Anantapur districts. Cost of each unit is Rs 3.50 lakhs. Of this amount, Rs 1.5 lakh will be provided by the Centre and Rs 1 lakh by State government as subsidy.

A loan amount of Rs 75,000 will be given to the beneficiary and he has to contribute Rs 25,000. The government has decided to give freehand to the beneficiaries to chose designs based on site conditions. There should be a bed room, hall with Kitchen, bathroom and toilet with total minimum carpet area of 30 sq mts. The housing department will provide some designs to them. In case of site constraint, G+1 for individual beneficiary will be allowed.

State government is working to fulfil the commonman’s dream on having own house. The government has targeted construction of 13,66,557 houses in rural areas and 5,39,286 houses in urban areas by spending Rs 56,000 crore in the State.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that the government was committed to complete all the houses before the next General elections and he set the targets to his party MLAs and they have to take responsibility for the completion of houses in stipulated time. State government planned to conduct house warming ceremony for 2.50 lakh houses on the occasion of Sankranti, another 2.5 lakh houses on June 8 and remaining houses on World Habitation Day. Municipal Administration department suggested the District Collectors to help the beneficiaries to get loans from banks.
