Kadapa: Following directions from the government, Regional Fire Officer (RFO) T Muralimohan visited Bedwel town at around 2.45 a.m. on Friday and made inquiries with the local fire officials.

The RFO also spoke to the victims and enquired about the reasons for the mishap. The victims explained him that 5,000 families had migrated to Badvel town from surrounding villages two years ago. They have temporarily constructed the houses in a vacant place and have been staying there for past several months.

They have submitted memorandum to local MRO for regularisation of their houses. The victims appealed the RFO to recommend to the government for providing compensation.

Later speaking to media persons, RFO Muralimoh has said that during fire mishaps, Fire Department personnel prepare loss estimations to houses, business establishments and buildings which are constructed in the government approved lands.

But this incident is different as the victims constricted houses in the government lands. He said that the fire mishap occurred in Bedwel town is different as the victims constructed the houses in the government land without the permission of the government. However, he said, his department conduct loss estimation with the permission of the government only after detail report received from the local administration.

Meanwhile TDP MLA T Jayaramulu visited the incident place and assured the victims that he would extend all possible help by bringing the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister. He said that he had taken the issue to the notice of the Marketing Minister C Audinarayana Reddy, and initiative for rushing fire engines from Porumamilla , Sidhavatam.

YSR Congress MLC Govinda Reddy and CPI state committee member Venkatasubbaiah who were also visited the place alleged that the administration should hold the responsibility for the fire accident as they least bothered over regularizing the houses despite several appeals.
