Kurnool: The farmers of Alur, Adoni and Pathikonda are demanding the State government to save them from deer by constructing a deer park. Or else, they have to face losses due to damage of crops by deer.

Hanumanthu, Rythu Sangam district vice-president, has said that Chief Minister has assured to set up a deer park during his first visit to Kurnool. He demanded the government to start constructing the deer park. The farmers of Alur, Adoni, Pathikonda say that deer have been damaging the crops in thousands of hectares.

With the drying up of streams and lakes in the forest, the animals migrate into human habitats in search of water and fodder. Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu during his visit to Kuruvelli village in Alur constituency on 2nd September, 2016 has assured for the construction of deer park. But no initiative has been taken so far.

The government has proposed to set up a deer park at the famous temple shrine Devaragattu. The forest department officials have identified a suitable land at Devaragattu containing with streams and green lush fields for the animals to stay comfortably. Even the department officials have sent a proposal to the government for the allocation of 750 acres of land at this area, it is learnt. But the proposals are pending with the government for four years.

A farmer Eeranna of Adngadaskal village in Alur mandal said that he has grown Bengal gram in an extent of 4 acres. All most entire crop was damaged by the deer. During Rabi also, the entire crop was damaged. He urged the government to save them from the deer’s attack.
