Vigilance sleuths in the wee hours of Saturday raided a godown on Velugonda road in Uravakonda mandal and seized 43 quintals of PDS rice, a weighing machine and a stitching machine. The PDS rice is said to have belonged to one B Chandramouli of Mopidi village.

The vigilance officials said action would be taken against him as per the AP Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Vigilance authorities A Ramakrishnaiah and HM Siva Prasad and local revenue official Nagesh Babu took part in the raid. Regional vigilance officer P Anil Babu said that a criminal complaint would be lodged against those who violate the AP Essential Commodities Act.
