Ongole: Prakasam district administration organised 5K Run to give wide publicity to the welfare schemes being implemented by the state government and encourage public to avail them as part of the Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme on Sunday.

In the 5K Run conducted from the Collectorate here, Collector V Vinay Chand said that on the last day of Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru, on January 11, a special programme, Ananda Lahari, will be conducted with cultural activities and grounding the projects of SC, ST, BC, Kapu and Minority Corporations.

MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao asked the participants to stay healthy. He said that the government is giving priority to the sports and games in the state. Gumma Gurunatham of Enuguladinnepadu village in Peddaravidu mandal completed the 5K Run first while A Sivanagireddy and G Ashok Kumar Reddy, students of Kho Kho Academy at J Pangulur finished second and third respectively.

In Darsi, Siddha Sudheer Kumar, son of Siddha Raghava Rao flagged off 5K Run from Darsi High School to Model School ground. In Kandukru, local RDO G Mallikharjuna flagged off the 5K Run while in Martur, local SI V Nagamalleswara Rao flagged off the Run.
