All set for Amaravati Marathon
Arrangements have been made for the successful conduct of Amaravati Marathon Expo-2018 which will begin at 6 am at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium on Sunday. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is the chief guest for the programme. Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner J Nivas on Saturday released the T shirts at the Indoor Stadium on MG Road.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner J Nivas on Saturday released the T shirts at the Indoor Stadium on MG Road.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said marathon is categorised into three types, Half Marathon 21.5 km, 10 km, 5 km. He informed that the Run begins at the IGMC Stadium and pass via MG Road, Tummalapalli Kalakshetram flyover, Prakasam Barrage, Karakkatta and reach Mandadam village in Guntur district.
He said nearly 3,000 enthusiastic participants registered their names to join the marathon. Interested candidates can register by paying Rs 1,000 for half marathon, Rs 750 for 10 km and Rs 500 for 5 km. The prize money for the winner is Rs 20 lakh.
Runners up will be given T shirts and once the participants finish the race, they would be provided with energy drinks, he added. He added that the previous marathon was very successful because people of all age groups took part in the event. Senior citizens, orphans and celebrities like actor Nikhil, big-boss fame Adarsh, Gowri Munjal, Shanvi Srivastava will participate in the event.
The Chief Minister will distribute prizes to the winners. Besides, minister’s, MLAs, Vijayawada MP, District Collector, City Police Commissioner, VMC Commissioner, APCRDA Commissioner, Mayor and other officials will participate in the marathon.
