Nellore: The first municipal residential junior college in the city, which was denied permission for not following guidelines, has finally got the nod from the government giving a relief to the college administration and the students.

As per directions of municipal minister P Narayana, municipal administration department started a residential junior college in the city on an experimental basis at VR College premises, which is first-of-its-kind in nature.

The minister also used to interact with the students and faculty members at least once in a week and it has become a routine activity for the college officials organizing a session whenever the minister visits the city.

The institution has been publicised as a model one across the state and the state government also declared that the model would be replicated in all districts if the current batch shows good performance in the public examination.

Faculty members were also made to focus on quality education and teachers from Narayana educational institutions were also roped to monitor academic activity in the college.

But, interestingly, the college was started without any prior permission from the Board of Intermediate and was found to have failed to follow the mandatory guidelines.

At one point, the college officials feared there would be a problem with regard to rolls, hall tickets and conducting examination for the first batch if the situation continued.

Since the brain behind the college is none other than minister P Narayana, a stalwart in corporate education, officials kept quiet for almost 4-5 months. However, the tension increased among them that the students being prevented from appearing for the public examination if things are not set right.

To their relief, finally the state government issued a GO recognising the college. “It is true the situation uncertain earlier. But now a GO has been issued giving permission to the college and code number was also allocated. There will be no problem for examination and other official procedures,” said Babu Jacob, Regional Inspection Officer, Intermediate Board talking to The Hans India.
