The biennial conference of The Indian Society of Atomic and Molecular Physics (ISAMP) began at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Tirupati on Saturday. So far, 21 such conferences were organised at various places in India. ISAMP has been holding Topical Conference (TC) from 2005.

So far, 21 such conferences were organised at various places in India. ISAMP has been holding Topical Conference (TC) from 2005.

Highlights:

  • IISER and IIT of Tirupati jointly hosting the 3-day conference
  • About 125 delegates from India and abroad attending the meet

Both IISER and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Tirupati are jointly hosting the 7th TC of the ISAMP between January 6 and 8. About 125 delegates have attended the conference from India and abroad. On Saturday, the keynote address was delivered by two renowned scientists Prof Anatoli Kheifets, a theoretical physicist from Australian National University and Prof E Krishna Kumar, who is an experimental physicist from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai.

The theme of ISAMP-TC7 conference is ‘Quantum Collisions and Confinement of Atomic and Molecular Species and Photons’.

The plenary sessions will be held at both IISER and IIT. IISER Tirupati Director Prof KN Ganesh and IIT Tirupati Director Prof KN Satyanarayana have welcomed the gathering while Dr Bhas Bapat of IISER Pune has proposed a vote of thanks. Prof PC Deshmukh and other faculty of both institutions took part.
