Guntur: Villagers of Neerukonda expressed resentment over the proposed development works to be taken up like construction of roads in the village during the CRDA meeting organised by the officials on Saturday.

The CRDA officials as part of the awareness programmes convened a meeting with villagers at Neerukonda village in Tullur mandal on Saturday.

But the villagers questioned the officials how they would take up development works in the flood prone areas.

They expressed apprehensions that if the creeks are filled with the earth for the construction of roads and other development works, the flood water would be diverted and inundate their village.

They demanded that the CRDA immediately cancel the proposed development works nearby the village. The villagers further alleged that the CRDA is violating the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court on the construction of the capital and execution of development works in the capital region.

The officials told the villagers that the feedback will be submitted to the government. Awareness meeting was conducted in Mandadam, Tullur, Neerukonda and Krishnayanapalem. But the villagers were not convinced with the explanation given by the officials.
