The State Teachers Association (STA) state council meet will be held in Tirupati from January 19 to 21, said its President and General Secretary E Shanmurthi and Ch Joseph Sudheer Babu respectively.

Tirupati: The State Teachers Association (STA) state council meet will be held in Tirupati from January 19 to 21, said its President and General Secretary E Shanmurthi and Ch Joseph Sudheer Babu respectively.

Speaking to the media in Tirupati on Monday, they have said that the 70 years celebrations of the organisation will be held at PLR Convention Centre on January 19 for which the members of the association from all the 13 districts of the State will attend in large numbers.

On this occasion, a meeting will be organised and Ministers Ganta Sreenivasa Rao and N Amarnath Reddy, MLA P Ramachandra Reddy, Teacher MLC K Narasimha Reddy, CPI National Committee Member K Narayana, MPs, and MLAs will participate. The newly constructed STA Bhavan at Bairagipatteda in Tirupati will be inaugurated on the same day.

On 21 and 22 January, State council meet will be held where the problems of teachers will be discussed; and several resolutions will be passed. Employees and teachers will have insecure life after retirement due to Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). To fight against CPS, dharnas will be held at Mandal headquarters on Tuesday and at Collectorates on February 10.

The leaders pointed out that the government was creating hurdles for teaching activity by giving the teachers unnecessary non-teaching work. The government is making unnecessary delay in releasing DSC notification to fill up of 14,000 posts.
