Srikakulam: The government is committed to tribal education and improvement of facilities at all tribal schools, said Minister for Energy K Kala Venkata Rao. He inaugurated Ekalavya School classes formally at Bhamini mandal headquarters on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that two Ekalavya Schools allotted for the district for Bhamini and Meliaputti as part of improvement of education facilities in tribal areas.

Due to lack of building and infrastructure, classes are being run temporarily at Sitampeta and Pathapatnam Youth Training Centres for Ekalavya Schools, minister elaborated. The government is providing aid to tribal students for preparation of UPSC, national level examinations and also for foreign education.

Later, minister attended the Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru Grama Sabha at Liviri village in Bhamini mandal and announced Rs 40 lakh allotment for water schemes in the area. He inaugurated Anganwadi building which was built with Rs 7 lakh. Palakonda MLA V Kalavathi, SC/ST sub-plan committee member N Jayakrishna, Sitampeta ITDA project officer L Shivasankar accompanied the minister.
