Srikakulam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is according top priority to the tourism sector and providing entertainment to the people but it seems officials of the municipal corporation of Srikakulam are turning a blind eye towards it.

The officials are intentionally neglecting important amusement spots in the city citing scarcity of funds. The River View Park was established on the banks of Nagavali river beside the old road bridge in Srikakulam which is situated adjacent to the famous Shiva temple Umarudra Koteswara Swamy.

In 1999, the River View Park was constructed with funds of Member of Parliament (MP) of Srikakulam K Yerrannaidu under Local Area Development (LAD) scheme.

With an aim to provide entertainment to residents of the Srikakulam and attract devotees of Umarudra Koteswara Swamy, the park was established here. Municipal engineering officials have to maintain the park by allotting some funds every three months.

Water fountains are not working here, iron grills, benches were completely damaged, frame works resembling cradles are not useful here, hanging beds completely affected, swinging cradles also affected.

The officials of the municipal and engineering departments are totally indifferent to the River View Park. Speaking to The Hans India here on Wednesday, members of the Forum for Citizens P Appa Rao, D Ramana said: “We are unable to relax or enjoy when we pay a visit to the park.” Y Rajendra Prasad, Ch Sanjeev and N Suguna also expressed their unhappiness over the state of affairs in the park. “Due to paucity of funds, we are unable to improve the conditions in the park” municipal engineer G Venkateswar Rao said.
