Nellore: A complicated and rare angioplasty procedure was conducted free of cost using stunt boost technology at Apollo Specialty Hospital here saving a 59-year-old patient’s life. Prominent cardiologist Dr Vijay Amaranth Reddy told press persons that the patient Rammurthy was having diabetes, BP and heart-related ailments. After he experienced heart pain in 2008 a stent was implanted.

In 2010, he had undergone a bypass surgery. Recently, he had suffered a heart attack and got admitted in the hospital. The angiogram revealed that the bypass in the right-side heart veins was not working. The stent was found with cracks. A balloon angioplasty with stunt boost technology was done using latest tools like cutting balloon.

Dr Reddy explained that normally it is rare to perform more than two heart surgeries. “It was most difficult to perform another operation to implant a stent. We have taken this as a prestige issue and successfully completed the surgery,” he added.

He said Rammurthy’s condition was now much better, thanks to the latest tools available and the expert team of doctors. Among those present at the press meet were hospital superintendent Dr Swetha Reddy, anesthesia doctors Chaitanya and Siva.
