Guntur: The construction of the first phase of International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) golden temple will be completed in six months. Already, 108 mandapas in the Golden Temple Complex were constructed.

The ISKCON will consecrate the idols of Lord Sri Krishna in the temple and explain the ‘Govinda Leelalu’ through the idols in the mandapas. They are constructing the four mini-theatres in the Golden Temple Complex.

At present, they are doing slab works for the mini-theatres. The ‘lilas’ of Chaitanya Maha Prabhu and Sri Krishna will be explained through documentaries in the mini-theatres. Around 200 people may sit in the mini-theatres to watch the shows.

A rare idol of young Krishna, locally called Venna Mudda Gopaludu, was found during the excavations carried out at the historical and ancient Kondaveedu Fort in 1998 and it inspired the ISKCON organisers to construct a golden buttered Krishna temple at Kondaveedu. Furthermore, they are also constructing a Vedic village to explain the significance of ancient family system.

The ISKCON is constructing a conference hall to develop the personality of the youth and instil confidence in them. They will also be taught techniques of meditation and mind control.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Thursday, ISKCON South India president, who is supervising the Golden Temple construction works, Satyagopinath Das said: “The first phase of Golden Temple Complex is expected to be completed by May or June this year.

As soon as construction is completed, we will invite either Prime Minister Narendra Modi or President Ram Nath Kovind for the inauguration. During the second phase, we will construct Cow University and Ayurvedic University.”
