Chittoor: More than 4,000 students of unaided private schools in the city have participated in the Swachh Bharat awareness rally here on Thursday. The rally was organised by Andhra Pradesh Unaided Schools Management Association (APUSMA).

Participating as chief guest, District Educational Officer (DEO) Panduranga Rao has addressed the students at Gandhi Statue. He expressed happiness over private schools taking an initiative of organising a rally in support of achieving 100 per cent Swachh Bharat.

The DEO lauded the efforts of the APUSMA for creating an awareness among the students about Swachh Bharat. He exhorted the students to take active role in raising the saplings on the premises of their schools as it will improve green cover in the city.

The DEO assured of awarding additional internal marks in the exams for those students, who participate in Swachh Bharat. Panduranga Rao gave a call to students to cultivate good habits and take active part in the social service programmes.

He exuded confidence that Chittoor district would secure the first position in the SSC results. APUSMA district president CK Mahesh said that private schools were instrumental for achieving the first rank in the SSC exams. The Association leaders’ B Gopalakrishna, SSK Raja, Ravi and others were present.
