MLC, 11 others get 2-year jail for protest
The court of the Judicial Magistrate of First Class, Gudur on Friday awarded two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 4,700 to MLC Yandapalli Srinivasulu Reddy and 11 others on charges of causing injury to the circle inspector in connection with a protest in Chillakur mandal in 2011.Â
Nellore: The court of the Judicial Magistrate of First Class, Gudur on Friday awarded two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 4,700 to MLC Yandapalli Srinivasulu Reddy and 11 others on charges of causing injury to the circle inspector in connection with a protest in Chillakur mandal in 2011.
According to police, a public hearing was conducted in 2011 in Ankulapatur in Chillakur mandal regarding proposals for setting up VSF power plant. Left party activists and leaders attended the protest expressing their resentment. As part of protest, the activists including the MLC thrown off the podium in which then circle inspector J. Rambabu and now intelligence DSP in Prakasam district received injuries.
Police booked cases against the MLC Y Srinivasulu Reddy, JVV leader D R Vijaya Kumar and 10 others under various sections. Then DSP Srinivasulu Reddy was the investigation officer of the case who is now working as principal of DTC, Ongole. Magistrate Lavanya delivered the verdict sentencing to two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 4,700 to each accused in the case.
