A jolly trip turned into a misery as two of a family washed away in the River Nagavali of Rayagada district in Odisha on Tuesday.  K Durga Prasad of Parvthipuram in Vizianagaram district went to Rayagada of Odisha and visited famous Durga temple there.

Vizianagaram: A jolly trip turned into a misery as two of a family washed away in the River Nagavali of Rayagada district in Odisha on Tuesday. K Durga Prasad of Parvthipuram in Vizianagaram district went to Rayagada of Odisha and visited famous Durga temple there.

Later, the family went to the banks of River Nagavali which is passing through the temple. Durga Prasad, his daughter Indu, wife Santhi and son Akhil went into the river and spent for some time. But four of them went deep into the river and were trapped in quick sand.

They tried to come out and screamed for help. Locals, other tourists nearby rushed there and tried to help them but two of them died. Santhi lost her life and her body was retrieved. But Akhil (7) is believed to be died and his body was not traced. Fortunately, Durga Prasad and his daughter Indu were rescued by the locals. The Odisha police is searching for the body of Akhil.
