Tirupati: Opposition leader and YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy assured the handloom weavers and power loom weavers that subsidised loans will be provided to them if the YSRCP is voted to power in 2019. He also assured provision of raw materials at subsidised price as part of measures to protect the textile industry.

On Tuesday evening Jagan addressed a public meeting at Vadamalapeta village of Nagari constituency. He promised construction of Textile Park for the benefit of power loom and handloom workers at Nagari town. Jagan flayed the TDP government for its failure to solve problems of handloom and power loom workers during the last four years.

He alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ignored the welfare of weavers at Nagari and across the State. Pointing out that Galeru Nagari Project provides irrigation facility for eastern mandals in Chittoor district, he wondered why the State government could not complete the project. He said former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy took keen interest on the project.

He further alleged that Naidu had closed Chittoor dairy to ensure that his company Heritage dairy secures profits. The Opposition leader also came down heavily on Naidu for closing the cooperative sugar factories. The YSRCP president called upon the people to teach a lesson to politicians who fail to keep their election promises.

Jagan interacted with the people of Parakalva, Ammagunta and Pathiputtur during his Padayatra on the 63rd day. Members of Nagari Mandal Electrical Workers Association met Jaganmohan Reddy and submitted a representation with 10 demands.

They requested for a safe working place to the electricity workers. They stressed the need for implementation of safety measures for those working at vulnerable sites. Jagan noted their demands and assured to take up necessary welfare measures for electrical workers.

Nagari Municipality chairperson Santhi Kumr met Jagan and explained about the problems in the town. She said the town was facing drinking water scarcity, lack of proper solid waste management system and issues pertaining to construction of composite pit, etc.

She also said that there was a need to increase the bed strength in the district hospital. The town also required a summer water storage tank, she said. Jagan assured that he would take measures for the welfare of people residing in Nagari municipality.
