The AP government invited nominations for Green Awards for 2017. In a press conference held at Secretariat on Wednesday, AP Urban Greening and Beautification Corporation Limited Managing Director N Chandramohan Reddy announced the Corporation will take nominations till February 15 for the Green Awards.

Amaravati: The AP government invited nominations for Green Awards for 2017. In a press conference held at Secretariat on Wednesday, AP Urban Greening and Beautification Corporation Limited Managing Director N Chandramohan Reddy announced the Corporation will take nominations till February 15 for the Green Awards.

He said the awards will be given on eight categories including local bodies, government parks, industries, schools and colleges, public and private offices, gated communities residential areas, apartments, individuals and non-government organisations and heritage plants and others.

Chandramohan Reddy informed they have created a dedicated website for applying Green Awards, www.urbangreening.ap.gov.in. And the Corporation will accept even hard copies, he added.

The Corporation also created another separate mobile application, “GreenAP” to encourage and support individuals and communities in the state in growing different plant species. The Corporation officials will guide the plant growers through online application.

Latest events including seminars, conferences, fair trades, exhibitions and others will be available for plant growers on mobile App, he explained.
Chandramohan Reddy said they have been bringing a new urban green policy for urban areas in Andhra Pradesh, a first of its kind in the country.

A workshop will be conducted on the policy this month ending before finalising it, he added. Centre for Innovations in Public Systems has prepared the policy, he informed. The policy aims to increase the forest cover on the growing urban areas in the entire state, he added.
