Former chairman of Odisha State Electricity Board Jagan Mohan Patnaik passed away recently at the age of 98 at his residence in Bhubaneswar. When the end came, he was with his wife, only son, daughter-in-law and grandson.

Visakhapatnam: Former chairman of Odisha State Electricity Board Jagan Mohan Patnaik passed away recently at the age of 98 at his residence in Bhubaneswar. When the end came, he was with his wife, only son, daughter-in-law and grandson.

He was born in October 1920 and graduated from Andhra University with gold medal in physics and passed electrical engineering in 1942 from the College of Engineering, Guindy, (Madras).

He held several positions in the Central government. His first posting was at Hirakud Dam Project and later he was transferred to Odisha. He had worked in various construction and maintenance of power plants, transmission network and electrical designs. He had worked in TISCO, Jamshedpur, before joining the Central government.

He was a member of Rajyadakshya Commission (Planning Commission) on power development in India and was a senate member of Roorkee University and member of the State Review Committee on power development. He was the Chairman of the Orissa Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India).
