Visakhapatnam: Trade Commissioner of Australian Trade and Investment Commission Peter Coleman said that institutions should impart education and discipline to make student a good citizen.

Addressing a round-table conference oragnised by the Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) here on Wednesday, Peter Coleman said that Australian universities and research institutions are among the best in the world and offer significant potential for partnerships in research. As the Indian government took up ‘Make in India’, the need for research and development is heightened even further, he pointed out.

“Australian universities and research institutions are ideal partners for Indian universities, research institutions and corporates for joint research projects and programmes for new product development, new technologies and processes, novel, advanced material and new solutions to meet India and Indian corporates’ growth challenges,” he elaborated.

He reiterated that India and Australia should work in tandem in harnessing the potential areas of technological transfer through PhD research exchange programme in climate science, health care, digital transformation, life sciences and logistics.

He also wants to associate Indian business people for promoting trade and industry in both the countries for better transfer of technology and products available in both the countries as per the international standards which would be mutually beneficial for trade and industry.

Presiding over the meeting, President of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation G Sambasiva Rao said that Visakhapatnam is becoming an educational hub with top class institutions like IIM-Visakhapatnam, Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) with best infrastructure is imparting best curriculum for the students.

He also said many more Centres of Excellence for Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence and Data Security would come up in future. Business Development Manager of Australian Trade and Investment Commission Sangeetha Krishnamurthy, members from GITAM University, Andhra University and other institutions were present.
