Visakhapatnam: A group of librarians of Andhra University on Thursday met Andhra University Registrar V Umamaheswara Rao at his chambers and requested him to take steps and ensure that they get promotions.

Later, speaking to the media, an employee of the library department J Vijaya Kumar said that there were posts of five assistant librarians and two deputy librarian lying vacant in university. Authorities of the Andhra University are likely to fill up the vacant posts with qualified candidates. In that case, the existing librarians are appealing the authorities to recognise their experience and services.

“We are having required qualifications and experience for the posts of assistant librarian and deputy librarian, though we are working for the past many years in the same department.

They should give the first priority for promotions to the employees in service as assistant librarian and deputy librarian”, Vijayakumar said. He said that Registrar V Umamasheswara Rao assured them that he would take up their petition with the higher authorities and do the needful.
