Kurnool: Former Union Minister and Congress senior leader Chinta Mohan demanded Central Bureau of India (CBI) probe into Polavaram project works alleging misuse of Rs 6,000 crore funds in the construction works.

Addressing a media conference at private hotel here on Friday, he said the Polavaram project, which was a dream of Andhra Pradesh people, was now in the grip of large scale corruption.

Chinta Mohan stated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had differences with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari over the share of corruption amounts, following this, the Centre halted the construction works.

He said Naidu’s visits to abroad is not aimed to bring investments to India but to collect commission amount there. Despite rampant corruption by Telugu Desam government, Naidu still wants to rule the state for a period of five more years, he pointed out.

Recalling the Congress government, he said the poor and needy were supplied with 13 varieties of provisions through ration shops. The former Union Minister also challenged YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy to disclose secret pact as he had with BJP. Stating that an alternative to TDP should be emerged, he said the Opposition leader YS Jagan is unable to rise to the occasion as he is facing several corruption cases.

Reiterating that Jagan won’t get the Chief Minister’s post in his life span, he suggested Jagan to conduct his patayatra to maintain his physical fitness.

He said in the past 60 years the state is ruled by only two social groups and justice was not done to any other communities be it BCs, Dalits and other communities. He demanded the state government to set up High Court in Kurnool.

Chinta Mohan said that he is making whirlwind tours in 13 districts to identify an apt person to be sworn in as next Chief Minister who could do social and economic justice to people of all sections.
