Tirupati: Opposition leader and YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy assured the farmers on Saturday that Price Stability Fund would be set up with Rs 3,000 crore for the welfare of farmers if YSRCP is voted to power in the next Assembly elections in the State.

Jagan met farmers during his Padayatra on Saturday and discussed on MSP for various crops. He assured farmers that he would provide permanent solutions to the problems faced by them. Across the State, farmers have been facing hardship for securing crop loans and input subsidy for earlier crop damages.

He flayed the TDP government for not resolving the farmers’ issues. After a day’s break, Jagan began his Praja Sankalpa Yatra on the 66th day by meeting women at Kukkala Kandriga village in Srikalahasti constituency. Later Jagan took a detour from his Padayatra and made a surprise visit to meet farmers who were at a paddy field in Kotta Verrapuram village of Srikalahasti constituency.

The Opposition leader met Chandrayya, Lakshmi who own seven acres of land and cultivate paddy. Chandrayya told Jagan that he had invested nearly Rs 2,10,000 on his 7-acre land but the earnings through the yield would be much lesser than the amount he had invested, as the govt is not providing MSP. On giving him a patient hearing, Jagan assured that the YSRCP would extend full support to farmers once it is voted to power.

A visually challenged person P Subramanyam of Kotta Veerapuram village of Srikalahasti constituency pointed out that he was not getting pension though he submitted repeated requests to the government. Later, Jagan met fishermen of Kobaka village, Karrayya, Kristayya and Venkataramana. They complained to Jagan that they were not allowed to go for fishing in any of the lakes around as they have been supporters of YSRCP.

Karrayya said they hardly earn Rs 50 to Rs 100 per day which is not sufficient as there are total five members in his family. He sought ration cards and houses for fishermen. Jagan requested them to wait for 9 months and assured that their problems will be resolved.

Jagan’s Padayatra covered the villages of Kummari Mitta, Modugulapalem, Kottaveerapuram, Kobaka, Erpedu, Merlepaka, Chindapalli and ended near Rachagunneri village. YSRCP coordinator of Srikalahasti constituency Biyyaapu Madhusoodhan Reddy, Rajampeta MP Mithun Reddy other local leaders accompanied Jagan.
