Srikakulam: Joint Action Committee of Primitive Tribes (PT-JAC) Union on Friday threatened to intensify the ongoing stir opposing inclusion of Boya and Valmiki castes into Scheduled Tribes (ST) list.

They are continuing their agitation for the past 20 days after state government announced its decision to include these two castes into ST list. The PT-JAC has been staging agitation in front of Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) headquarters at Sitampeta for the past 20 days. On Friday, YSRCP Palakonda MLA V Kalavathi took part in the ongoing agitation.

Speaking on the occasion, she said total population of Boya and Valmiki castes is 40 lakh in the state and inclusion of these two castes would hamper the prospects of existing tribes.

She demanded that the government withdraw its decision immediately otherwise they will intensify the ongoing stir and tribes will teach a lesson to the TDP government in a befitting manner in the ensuing coming elections. PTJAC leaders N Kantha Rao, H Prasad, S Gopal and A Manmadha Rao also spoke.
