All India Trade Union Congress gives call for strike tomorrow

Vijayawada: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has called for strike on January 23 opposing the government’s policies towards privatisation which are detrimental to the interests of lakhs of workers. AITUC state president Ch V Rama Rao said the State and Central governments were neglecting the welfare of workers by not implementing recommendations of various committees.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, he requested all the trade unions to extend their support for the proposed strike. He pointed out that already several trade unions across the country took part in strike on January 17 but the State unit of AITUC did not participate as the government declared holiday on that day on account of Sankranti.
