Beauty contest for cows
The centenary celebrations of Gosaramskhana Samiti began here on Sunday by offering puja to cows. Mayor Sheikh Noorjahan, her husband, Municipal Corporation Cooption member SMR Pedababu performed puja to 108 cows on samiti premises.

Later, the organisers conducted the beauty contest for cows. About 72 cows participated in the competitions. The cow belonging to D Jayababu of RR Pet in Eluru secured first place.
Tollywood actor Venu was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that it is pleasure to participate in the centenary celebrations of Gosamrakshana Samiti.
He recalled the episode where he had acted with cow in ‘Hanuman Junction’ movie. Later, organisers presented memento and Rs 10,000 cash prize to the winner. Former MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao’s son Bhaskar donated Rs 50,000 to Gosamrakshana Samiti.
Samiti president, general secretaries Gurram Satyanarayana, MNV Murali Krishna, M Rama Rao, Vema Koteswara Rao, Ramamohan Rao, former MLA Maradani Ranga Rao participated.
