Visakhapatnam: In pursuant with the Central government’s new initiative Bharat Parv, Eastern Naval Command (ENC) is conducting events aimed at showcasing the ‘Silent Service’ and for creating awareness among citizens. As part of the ‘Bharat Parv’, a health walk was organised at Naval Base here on Saturday.

The 10-km long health walk flagged off by Chief of Staff ENC Vice-Admiral MS Pawar saw enthusiastic response from over 800 naval personnel, defence civilians and their families.

‘Bharat Parv’ is being organised by the Centre as part of the Republic Day celebrations across the nation from January 20 to 31. The aim is to generate a patriotic mood, promote the rich cultural diversity of the country, ensure wider participation of the people and popularise the idea of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.

Other activities related to ‘Bharat Parv’ celebrations include schoolchildren visit to Eastern Fleet Ship on January 21. Schoolchildren accompanied by their staff may visit the ship where students would be given career counselling and provided information on various entry options for the youth to join the Indian Navy.

The ENC is also organising a public performance of Naval Band at VUDA Children Arena on January 23. In addition, quiz and essay competitions are also being conducted in Naval Children Schools and Sainik Schools, Korukonda and Bhubaneswar during the period. The students of the Navy Children School, which was adjudged as the best school in Andhra Pradesh, will also stage a street play ‘Sashakt Naari, Sukhi Parivar, Samrudh Desh’ meaning ‘Empowered Women, Happy family, Prosperous Nation’ at the Beach Road on January 21.
