Vijayawada: Unidentified persons robbed gold and silver articles and cash from the residence of Battula Vinaybabu, a resident of Karanam Bazaar in Poranki village under Penamaluru police station limits on late Saturday night. Vinaybabu, along with his family members, went to Bapulapadu village to his relatives’ house for Sankranti festival.

When inmates were not present, the unidentified persons broke the locks of the door and robbed gold ornaments weighting 320 grams and silver articles weighting 1.70 kg and Rs.1.30 lakh cash from the residence. Local residents informed Vinaybabu about the robbery.

The victim lodged a complaint with Penamaluru police on Sunday. The police collected clues and pressed the dog squad into service. A case has been registered and investigation began.
