Anantapur: District Medical and Health Officer Sunil Kumar, at a review meeting held here on Sunday, expressed concern at the death of 9 mothers who died at the time of delivering the children in the months of November and December in 2017.

Dr Kumar has said that free medical care was being given free of cost to women right from pregnancy stage to delivery stage. Special attention is given to pregnant women whose health condition is critical, he said.

He said that ANM's, Asha Workers and field supervisors would be monitoring pregnant women by sending them to primary health centres and conducting periodic tests. The doctor concerned would examine the pregnant woman four times in 9 months.

Anaemic women will be given special nutritious food to improve their health. Under the Janani SishuSamrakshana Scheme, the health of the new born child willalso be taken care of, he added.
