‘Ammaku Vandanam’ (Salutations to the Mother) was celebrated at all government schools in the district on Monday. As part of the celebrations, the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan has celebrated the State-level event ‘Ammaku Vandanam’ at Chandrampalem High School.

All the mothers of students have been invited to the school and performed puja to them by their children. The SSA made all the arrangements for the celebrations.

Inspired by similar programme in an Indonesian school, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu started the programme. On the occasion of ‘Vasantha Panchami’, which is one of the most auspicious day of Hindus, celebrations were organised at all the government schools.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and well-known reader of spiritual discourses Chaganti Koteshwara Rao took part in the celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Srinivas Rao said that serving the mother was serving God. No one can define the greatness or nobility of a mother.

To mould children into good citizens by imbibing ethical values, the State government has included syllabus pertaining to ethical and moral values in the education system, the minister said.

The HRD minister called upon the students to follow the moral values and appealed to them to respect mothers. Passing the classes with good ranks and marks would be the gift to all mothers, he added. On the occasion, the minister also administered a pledge by the students.

While addressing the students, Chaganti Koteswara Rao explained about the importance of the mother. Terming various examples of the mythological stories, he explained that the mother is the visible Goddess on Earth.

Respecting the mother is equal to the any level prayer or puja to the goddess on Earth, Chaganti Koteswara Rao said. Honouring the mother was the highest ritual of any Dharma, he added.

Chandrampalem High School is a model school developed by the State government and has the highest student strength with 3,200 across the state. On the occasion, the minister laid foundation stone for various development works in the school being taken up at a cost of Rs 35 lakh.

State SSA Project Director Srinivasa Rao, MP Haribabu, District Collector Praveen Kumar, VUDA vice-chairmanBasanth Kumar and several others were present.
