Srikakulam: Minister for Transport K Atchannaidu, Government Whip K Ravi Kumar, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Ch Dhanalaxmi and MLAs directed the officials concerned to complete all the works at a brisk as they have only year left for general elections.

Zilla Parishad general body meeting was held at Zilla Parishad Hall here on Tuesday. On the occasion, they reviewed the progress of Vamsadhara, Thotapalli, other minor irrigation projects, road bridges on Nagavali and Vamsadhara rivers.

The minister explained that Rs 36 crore was released for widening of road between Srikakulam and Amudalavalasa into 100 feet. The Government Whip proposed to upgrade the state highway into national highway, minister said while answering to a query posed by ZPTC of Srikakulam Ch Janardhan.

Responding to questions raised by MP K Rammohan Naidu, YSRCP MLAs K Jogulu, V Kalavathi and TDP MLAs GSS Sivaji and B Ramana Murthy and MLA K Venkata Ramana, Minister and Government Whip directed the officials to prepare reports on requirement of roads in all the Assembly segments basing on traffic rush, subsequently, they would try to get funds for the works.

MLA GSS Sivaji was unhappy over progress of off-shore project works and made comments against the Minister for Transport for keeping mum over the slow pace of works.

They also discussed about flood banks on Vamsadhara and Nagavli rivers, progress of Rythu Bazars, paddy purchasing, education and health departments.

They launched a poster on pulse polio which will be organised on January 28. They also celebrated birthday of Minister for IT Nara Lokesh at the venue.
