The dignitary delivered a keynote address at the inaugural of a two-day national workshop-cum-exhibition on Sanskrit epigraphy organised by the Department of Sanskrit at Maris Stella College and the Archeological Survey of India, Mysore at the college auditorium here on Tuesday.

“This workshop would help the youth to know about their responsibilities to preserve and protect our epigraphic heritage and pass it to the forthcoming generations,” he said.

Participating as chief guest, AP Special Chief Secretary, LV Subramanyam stressed the importance taking forward Sanskrit literature and epigraphy to the present generation. He appreciated the Sanskrit department head D Ramakrishna for arranging the workshop and exhibition which would help students to acquire knowledge on Sanskrit inscriptions.

Ramakrishna explaining the theme of the workshop said, “Whatever historical material we got from tradition, literature, coins, art and architecture and from other sources is regulated by the inscriptions.”

AP Archeology and Museums Commissioner Vani Mohan discussed the importance of tradition and culture of India with inscriptions which help them for their better future. “At present there are 5500 inscriptions to be exhibited,” the Commissioner said.

Archeological Survey of India director Dr K Muniratnam explained the importance of the epigraphy and culture.About 100 delegates from various colleges, students and staff of Maris Stella College attended the event.
