Railways took initiative to clear encroachments of railway land at Rammurthypantulu Peta, Kancharapalem on Tuesday.  Several instructions were issued from time to time to the encroachers at Gandhnagar Colony near Kancharapalem fly- over but the land was not cleared.

Visakhapatnam: Railways took initiative to clear encroachments of railway land at Rammurthypantulu Peta, Kancharapalem on Tuesday. Several instructions were issued from time to time to the encroachers at Gandhnagar Colony near Kancharapalem fly- over but the land was not cleared.

The land was undisputed and encroachers always demanded some time to vacate the land since three years but instead of vacating the land there is a substantial increase was noticed in the last three months in the number of encroachments, that was removed immediately and further instruction was given to old encroachments to vacate land.

Encroachers were not ready to move and considerably causing a lot of safety menace to the surrounding railway infrastructure. In order to safe guard the interests of railways, demolition drive was launched on Tuesday after prior intimation to the encroachers. Finally. all the existing 130 encroachments were removed in consultation and with the assistance of Railway Protection Force and local civic authorities.

As many as 108 officers and staff of railways took part in the drive.
