Kakinada: Noted sand artist of the district Devina Srinivas created a sand sculpture on the eve of National Girl Child Day (Jan 24) at the NTR Beach here on Tuesday. Speaking to ‘The Hans India’, Srinivas informed that he started to sculpt the art on Monday night.

“It took 12 hours to complete the sand art. The national girl child day was first started in the year 2008 by the women and child development ministry,” he explained.

He expressed regret over the fetal killings even in today’s day and age. He had created the sculpture on the beach to raise awareness on the subject among public. The sand art has two hands carrying a child on one side and a hand trying to kill the unborn with a knife on the other.

He captioned his art ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. Visitors thronged the beach to catch a glimpse of the art that carried a message in Telugu: ‘Aadapillanu Puttaniddam, Batakaniddam’.
