Vizianagaram: Measures taken up by the administration to transform Vizianagaram into open defection-free district is giving good results.
The district was recognised by the Central government in this regard and gave 11th rank to it in Swachh Bharat at national-level. District Collector Vivek Yadav taken this mission as prestigious and mobilised the entire administration to reach the target.
Grounded lakhs of toilets in various villages and motivated the rural public to have individual toilets at their homes. So far the people in the district constructed 4.27 lakhs toilets and some more are under construction and they would be completed by February.
Hence, the Union government recognised the mission for constructing 80.68 per cent toilets in the district. Recently, the district entered Limca Book of Records for constructing 10,000 toilets in 100 hours.
