Srikakulam: Fervour marked Ratha Saptham at Sun God temple in Arasavalli in Srikakulam district on Wednesday. Moderate rush was witnessed in and around Sri Surya Narayana Swamy temple. Sarada Peetham pontiff Sri Swaroopanandrendra Swami started the celebrations with ‘ksheerabhisheskham at 12.30 am on Tuesday.

Later, political leaders from all the parties, Government Whip Kuna Ravi Kumar, MP K Rammohan Naidu, MLA G Laxmidevi, YSRCP leaders Tammineni Sitaram, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Varudu Kalyani, Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy, Joint Collector KVN Chakradhara Babu and Superintendent of Police Dr CM Trivikrama Varma had a darsan of presiding deity. Minister for Transport K Atchannaidu visited the temple in the morning and expressed satisfaction over arrangements.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the state government would be conducting Surya Aaradhana (prayer to sun) programme on January 28. Actually, it was supposed to be held on Ratha Sapthami but it was postponed as the Chief minister was in foreign tour, minister clarified.

The government is according top priority to nature and Surya Aaradhana would be the fifth such activity, he pointed out. Regarding temple development, the minister assured to implement master plan in the available site around the temple by convincing all existing families.
