Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar said that an action plan would be drafted to set up Mini-Dairies in West Godavari district. He conducted a review meeting on priority sectors’ progress with officials at the Collectorate meeting hall here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the government has directed to include the Mini-Dairies under micro, small, medium entrepreneurship programme in the recently concluded District Collectors’ conference held in Vijayawada.

Following the fiat, the Collector directed the Dairy Development Corporation officials to prepare the plan to establish Mini Dairies in the district and submit the plan to industries secretary. He said that about 18 bulk milk chilling centres would be revived in the district to enhance the procurement of milk from the farmers.

He directed the officials to reach hundred per cent targets under Ksheera Sagar and Sunandini schemes. He suggested to the farmers to purchase the buffaloes which were certified by the veterinary officials. He also directed the veterinary officials to certify only after the scrutiny of the buffaloes’ health condition and milk production.

The Collector said that 2,750 acres were identified to cultivate fodder as against the fixed target of 5,000 acres under Chandranna fodder field programme. He said that under this scheme, the government will give Rs 25,000 per acre as financial assistance to the landless farmers, if they took the land on lease.

He said that some farmers, who had land, are posing as landless farmers to get the benefit of this scheme and warned that if found guilty in this regard, they will be jailed.
