Visakhapatnam Customs in association with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) conducted quiz competitions for the schoolchildren at the Port Kalavani Auditorium on Thursday to mark the International Customs Day here on Thursday.

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Customs in association with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) conducted quiz competitions for the schoolchildren at the Port Kalavani Auditorium on Thursday to mark the International Customs Day here on Thursday. In all, 450 students from 40 schools in the city participated in the competitions. Noted quiz master Stanley David conducted the competitions.

Eight teams out of 225 were shortlisted in the preliminary and the final on stage quizzing saw the teams battle it out for the top positions. The Navy Children School represented by Jatin Rawat and Ayush Bhoria won first prize while Yamini Guduru and Manya Karri from Navy Children School and Visakha Valley School represented by Gaurav Prakash and Surya Teja are the first and second runners up.

Kendriya Vidyala-2, Chaitanya Public School, Timpany School and another team from Navy Children School and Visakha Valley School reached the finals. Chief Commissioner of Customs and GST for Visakhapatnam Zone YS Shahrawat, additional commissioner Shiril Saroj and General Manager of RINL AK Singh were present.

As a part of their green initiative, the RINL presented a sapling to each participant in the event. The prize distribution and cash awards to the achievers will be given during the International Customs Day celebrations to be held on January 27.
