Visakhapatnam: With a clue, the crime wing police cracked a murder case, six chain snatching cases and nine theft cases committed by the duo who happened to be siblings.

Though the murder occurred in October 2014, there is no police case was registered as no complaint was lodged by anyone. However, police received information that one of the two-member bike riders, who committed six chain snatchings, have six fingers to right hand.

As a part of their regular checkings, the Gopalapatnam crime police found Gandreddy Appala Raju, who is having six fingers to his right hand. On suspicion, police interrogated Appala Raju and he confessed about a murder case, chain snatchings and theft cases committed, along with his brother Gandreddy Satti Babu.

The accused Appalaraju informed the police that gold was sold to one G Ramesh. Police also nabbed Ramesh. However, another accused Satti Babu is still at large.

Addressing a media conference here on Thursday, DCP Shemushi Bajpai and ADCP V Suresh Babu said that the accused brothers are residents of Gandigundam village and are absconding since 2014 after killing their aunty for gold.

In April 2014, both the accused killed a 80-year-old woman Vakada Simhachalam, a relative to the brothers. They murdered her while she was plucking cashews at cashew groves at the village and fled the spot with 29 gms of gold ornaments.

During the interrogation, the accused confessed to the murder, six chain snatchings and nine theft cases committed, along with his brother. The stolen property sold to the accused three Ramesh, the DCP said.

The police recovered 144 grams of gold, including Vakada Simhachalam’s 29 gms gold ornaments. Police still yet to recover some gold jewellery. Police said teams have been formed to nab the accused Gandreddi Sathi Babu.
