Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has achieved the lowest transmission and distribution losses and stood in the first place among all the DISCOMs in the country. The APEPDCL registered the achievement with 4.99 per cent T and D losses in 2016-17.

The DISCOM has also given cent per cent connections to all the rural and interior parts of agency areas under the Rural Electrification Programme (REP) covering 1,98,329 households spread across Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts.

Listing out the achievements of APEPDCL at the Republic Day celebrations at corporate office here on Friday, Chairman and Managing Director of APEPDCL HY Dora said that power is being suppled through 57.48 lakh power connections in the five districts. The DISCOM is supplying the power round-the-clock without interruption and registered good progress, the CMD added.

“As per the aspiration of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the company is now supplying quality power and receiving highest satisfaction from the consumers. In all, 171 agency villages have been covered with solar power connectivity and given solar power to 3,526 houses in the agency areas.

Visakhapatnam is the first city in the state where underground cabling works are being taken up in 20 sub-stations in a jurisdiction with the financial assistance of World Bank at a cost of Rs 720 crore. The UG cabling works will be completed by July 2019,” Dora explained.

The company set 39.197 lakh IRDA metres so far to the households and aiming to complete cent per cent smart metres at the end of the August this year. As many as 773 solar rooftop units synchronised with a capacity of 12,945 KW and eight MW capacity would be achieved by the end of the March, 2018, he added.

Later, the CMD distributed the commendation certificates to 31 employees of the company of five districts. Directors of APEPDCL B Seshu Kumar, TVS Chandrasekhar and Executive Director B. Ramesh Prasad also present.
