Divisional Railway Manager boasts of Waltair Division achievements
Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair Division Mukul Saran Mathur said that challenges ahead of railways are reduction in market share in goods transportation, high cost of operations, technological upgradation which are to be addressed.
Visakhapatnam: Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair Division Mukul Saran Mathur said that challenges ahead of railways are reduction in market share in goods transportation, high cost of operations, technological upgradation which are to be addressed.
However, the Waltair division from April to December-2017 achieved growth in freight loading of four per cent, over all earning growth by eight per cent and improvement of operating ratio by four per cent even there was reduction in passenger traffic by two per cent due to various reasons. Visakhapatnam stood number one in Swachchta station category.
The Waltair Railway Division celebrated 69th Republic Day on Friday. The DRM unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from the contingent of Railway Protection Force, Cadets of Bharat Scouts and Guides and Civil Defence Personnel at the RPF parade grounds. Speaking on the occasion, the DRM said that Wi-Fi at 14 stations, including 10 stations in tribal areas, was commissioned.
In all, 975 bio-toilets were provided in trains, Visakhapatnam railway station was made 100 per cent digital payment enabled station and a creative art gallery was provided, he said.
