Chittoor: District Collector PS Pradyumna on Friday said the Chittoor is top among the districts in the horticulture acreage. He stated horticulture crops were raised in an extent of 1 lakh hectares. Earlier, the Collector has hoisted the national flag at the District Training Centre (DTC) near here and has enlisted the achievements of various departments in the district.

“Chittoor district has witnessed more development with the active participation of people’s representatives and public,” he said, adding that the western parts of the district would receive Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) water soon as the government is keen to complete the project by spending Rs 3,137 crore. Earlier, the Collector has received the guard of honour and met the freedom fighters on the occasion.

District SP Rajasekhar Babu, Joint Collector Girisha, Additional Joint Collector Chandramouli, MLC B N Rajasimhulu, and city Mayor Hemalatha were present. Addressing the function, Pradyumna said that stage has been set to declare Chittoor district as horticulture and industrial hub. “About 39 small, medium and large-scale industries would come shortly in the district with an investment of Rs 43,340 crore and ensuring an employment opportunity for 1 lakh job seekers.

He further stated the government is supplying quality power for the farmers benefitting 2.71 lakh agriculture connections. Pradyumna has also presented the appreciation letters and awards for the meritorious officials. Saptagiri Grameena Bank (SGB) Chairman B Suribabu, and others have received the awards from the Collector. The cultural programmes organised on the occasion have enthralled the participants.
