The 69th Republic day celebrations held at various places with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on Friday. At GITAM: Vice-Chancellor MS Prasada Rao unfurled the National Flag at GISR Medical College grounds, later released pigeons and received the guard of honour by the University NCC wing.

Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor called upon the students to respect and uphold the constitutional processes, in the best interest of people and nation, without fear or favour and with fairness and firmness. He urged the members of the university to strive for excellence in their respective fields in order to build a robust university system.

At VPT: Celebrating the Republic Day, Chairman MT Krishna Babu said that the Port of Visakhapatnam sharing the grief of the families of those who laid their lives in the guarding the frontiers, protecting the lives of the citizens and valuable installations.

On the occasion, the Chairman explained about the port operations, progress, augmentation and challenges ahead in the cargo handling operations in future. The Chairman mentioned various milestones of the VPT in the recent past.

At Andhra University: Youth should develop their skills and knowledge with the fast-growing trends and technologies, said Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G Nageswara Rao while addressing the students here on Friday at 69th R-Day celebrations at Andhra University. He hoisted the National Flag and received the guard of honour from NCC, NSS, AU Security officers and other affiliated college students.

At HSL: CMD of HSL Real Admiral L V Sarat Babu hoisted the National Flag and inspected the parade comprising security personnel, rover scouts and students from HSL educational institutions. Students of Hindustan Shipyard School and College rendered patriotic songs and danced in front of a large gathering of HSL employees and their families. Commendation letters were awarded to employees for their outstanding contribution.

At DCIL: CMD of DCIL Rajesh Tripathi unfurled the National Flag. Speaking on the occasion, he said that one overseas dredging project at Mongla Port, Bangladesh, would be commenced by this month-end and discussions are on with BEXIMCO for one more prestigious overseas project at Kutubdia, Bangladesh . If taken up, this would be a project for one year of capital dredging and nine years of maintenance dredging.

At Satya Sai Vidya Vihar: Commodore PA Raman, who was decorated with Vishista SEVA Medal by former President late APJ Abdul Kalam for his significant contribution in the construction of India's first 1st nuclear powered submarine INS Arihant, was the chief guest at the R-day celebrations at Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vijhar. Addressing the students, Raman narrated the attitude of Japanese, where they hold demonstrations in a peaceful manner after working hours without disturbing anyone.
