District Collector K Bhaskar said that plans have been formulated at a cost of Rs 340 crore to develop tourist spots in the district. He said that the tourism development programmes would be taken up in the district on a large scale to attract more tourists.

He hoisted the National Flag at the Police Parade grounds here on Friday on the occasion of Republic Day. He received the guard of honour from the Armed Reserve Police on the occasion.
Later, addressing a gathering, the District Collector said that the tourism plan would develop Kolleru lake, Pattiseema project, Perupalem beach and Yerrakalva reservoir in the district, besides constructing a cultural building in Eluru.
He said that the Godavari River belt areas Papikondalu, Perantalapalli, Dongaravipalem, Pedamallam and Chinchinada on the banks of River Godavari would be developed as tourist centres.
An amount of Rs.15 crore would be spent for the boating point and constructing resorts in these areas. The District Collector while explaining the various development activities taken up in the district, said that CC roads would be laid, underground drainage and water taps would be provided to all the houses in the villages.
Presently, he said that irrigated water was being supplied to 4.60 lakh acres for rabi crop in the district. He said the Godavari Western Delta modernisation works have already taken up in the district and would be completed with Rs.737 crore. The remaining works would be taken up after the canal closure on March 31.
He said that Rs 185 crore have been earmarked to develop the Yanamadurru Drain and Yarrakalva Modernisation works. He said that the Pogonda Reservoir in the agency area has been completed and ready for the inauguration.
He said that the district has recorded double-digit growth in agriculture this year also. He said that as part of transparency and accountability in the administration, 949 mini ‘Mee Seva’ Centres have been constructed in villages for the people to get their required certificates through these centres quickly.
Through these centres, Adangal, ROR, 1B, e-Pattadar pass books, income, caste, and residence certificates would be sanctioned, he added. He said that 73 lakh certificates issued through these centres so far.
