As part of the national immunisation programme, 5.31 lakh children below the age of five will be administered polio drops across the district for 3 days beginning from Sunday. A total of 2,771 polio booths were set up to administer polio drops to children. Of them, 2,342 booths for rural, 429 for urban, 95 for transit and 98 will work on mobile duty.
Kurnool: As part of the national immunisation programme, 5.31 lakh children below the age of five will be administered polio drops across the district for 3 days beginning from Sunday. A total of 2,771 polio booths were set up to administer polio drops to children. Of them, 2,342 booths for rural, 429 for urban, 95 for transit and 98 will work on mobile duty.
Speaking to media here on Saturday, District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr Y Narasimhulu said no cases of polio were reported in Kurnool since 2003. He stated that 6.8 lakh vaccine doses will be distributed with the assistance of 10,940 vaccinators across the district.
He urged the parents to ensure their children are administered with polio drops. Earlier, District Collector S Satyanarayana and DMHO flagged off polio awareness rally at the Collectorate. Students from various nursing colleges have participated in the rally. The rally which started from the Collectorate has concluded at Raj Vihar Centre.
