Amaravati: AP Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) postponed following a request by students seeking some more time to attend the exams, Minister for Human Resources Ganta Srinivasa Rao said in a press conference on Saturday in Vijayawada.

The Minister explained that the TET exams will be conducted from February 21 to March 3, instead of the previously announced schedule from February 5 to February 15. Government has been giving priority for the benefit of students and hence it has taken this decision, he said while announcing the re-schedule of the TET. The students unions requested repeatedly to postpone the exams for more preparation, he said.

This is second time that the government postponed TET exams. In fact, the TET exams were supposed to be conducted from this January 17. At that time, the government announced that it had postponed the exams to provide opportunities to more students. And now, it said that the exam postponed as the students explained that the time for preparation was not sufficient.

Srinivasa Rao explained that a total of 4,46,833 members applied for TET exams in the state. The exams will be conducted on online, he informed. Out of all the applications, there were 1,80,249 members applied for Paper -1 (SGT), 2,12,794 members for Paper 2 (School Assistants) and 53,290 members applied for Paper -3 (Language), the Minister added.
